Features of Britain Power Cords
Britain power cord is generally considered to be electrical equipment for end-users to operate within residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings and in special facilities and locations such as marinas or caravan parks. It usually does not cover transmission or distribution to them.
Installations are differentiated by many criteria such as voltage (high, low, ultra-low), phase (single or three-phase), nature of electrical signals (power, data), type and design of cable (conductors and insulators used, Cable design, solid/fixed or stranded/flexible, intended use, protective material), circuit design (ring, radial), etc.
Electrical wiring is ultimately regulated to ensure safe operation through: Building Codes, currently legislated under the Building Code 2010, which list "controlled services" such as electrical wiring that must follow specific directions and standards, and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. The detailed rules for end-use wiring to be followed for practical purposes are as follows: BS 7671 Electrical installation requirements. (IET Wiring Regulations), currently in the 18th edition, provides a detailed description of what the law refers to.
UK wire standards are largely harmonised with regulations in other European countries as well as with the international IEC 60446 standard. However, there are many country-specific practices, customs and traditions that are quite different from other countries, and in some cases can be harmonized. These include the use of ring circuits for household and light commercial fixed wiring, fuse plugs, and the use of historically unique wiring colors for circuits installed before unification.
